Seems Flash runtime Java Script ‘Gordon’ is here to stay as an alternative of Adobe. Gordon is the brainchild of German Developer- Tobey Schneider. He has managed to shift the focus of techies and low key users on Flash away from Adobe. The project is in early stages of testing and development, though has garnered a lot of attention and attraction to make it happen big and real.
Till now, Adobe’s flash has been used to create resplendent and captivating pages supporting plug-in applications like video, music, animations and animation characters. This century’s hottest buzz – iPhone created frenzy over its non flash supporting browser and in spite of the fact that it uses a full browser to run applications smoothly. Because of the lack of Flash functionality, it doesn’t provide support to whole World Wide Web. Also, there have been dissensions on the functionality and beauty of Flash applications. For instance, it cannot be used to restore data. The pages are pretty, interactive but have no search option and offer little access support to data. The low tech users who prefer using Lynx to Firefox, always found flash applications superfluous.
Gordon supports HTML5 and SVG standards, so it will take time to actually become a hot favorite of users over Flash, but as an old saying goes ‘patience bears sweet fruit’, we can wait!!
